A 1920s craftsman home reimagined for its next chapter. After nearly two decades of living with heirloom furniture and an extensive art collection, the client was ready to elevate her space without erasing its history.
The approach centered on elevation through restraint. A family dining table, passed down through generations, found new life anchored by ochre velvet chairs with sculptural backs—a study in balancing weight and warmth. Throughout the home, handcrafted lighting from Turkey and Mexico introduces texture and patina, each unlacquered brass fixture aging gracefully alongside the architecture.
The kitchen became the project’s material anchor. Ivory cabinetry—a richer, more nuanced take on the original white—grounds quartzite countertops veined with blue, beige, and unexpected pops of orange and green. A former pantry transformed into a coffee bar bridges the kitchen and office, clad in dimensional ochre tile and rare yellow marble that plays against the cream millwork.
In the powder room, drama. Red and Carrara marble create a checkered floor, the foundation for coral walls drenched in color. Italian Murano glass sconces cast warm light, while a handmade pink travertine sink becomes a sculpture.
This project is an exercise in reframing—taking what exists and asking it to speak differently. Old and new, heirloom and handmade, craft and color converge to create a home that invites living with renewed intention.
